7. Tour

On July 21st, a tour to Pereslavl-Zalessky is planned for those interested.

Pereslavl-Zalessky is a small town 156 kilometers from Moscow on the shores of Lake Pleshcheyevo. A spirit of authenticity and folklore pervades here. This small, cozy town has left a significant mark on Russian history. Pereslavl-Zalessky was founded by Yuri Dolgoruky in 1152. Prince Alexander Nevsky was born and raised here. At the end of the 17th century, young Peter the Great created his toy flotilla on Lake Pleshcheyevo, which laid the foundation for the Russian navy.

On this tour, we will admire masterpieces of Russian architecture from the late 17th and early 18th centuries: the entrance and holy gates with the gatekeeper's chamber, decorated with marvelous ornamentation. We will also visit the impressive Assumption Cathedral, built in the Baroque style by Moscow architects.

We'll have the opportunity to meet a fascinating resident of Pereslavl, the subject of many documentaries—Swiss Benjamin Forster. Benjamin Forster moved from the Swiss canton of Zurich to the Yaroslavl region in 2015 and opened his own apiary. He practices organic beekeeping, develops ecotourism, and is a skilled apiary owner, calling himself "a Swiss man with a Cossack soul". The Forsters' farm is open to tourists. We'll visit the apiary, where Benjamin will explain to the gymnasts how bees communicate with each other and what drones are. He'll show us what's inside the hive and how many bees there are. The tour is conducted in compliance with all safety regulations: not a single bee has ever stung a guest. Ekaterina, Benjamin's wife, says that her husband knows from the buzzing inside the hive whether it can be opened or not, and what mood the bees are in. The tour will end with a tea party. Benjamin will serve Swiss rhubarb pie which he bakes himself.

At the end of the tour, as per tradition, the gymnasts will have a photo session with Irina Yuryevna and receive a surprise in a basket.

Tour itinerary: Kremlin visit, lunch, photo session, and a tour of an apiary.

Tour cost: 6,000 rubles per person.
